U.S. Army Africa medical officer share ideas with Moroccan counterparts

RABAT, Morocco – A U.S. Army Africa medical team spent a week sharing casualty evacuation procedures with members of the Moroccan military.

The program was billed as a military familiarization event, but felt more like a conference where ideas were exchanged, said Maj. James Hayes, 41, from Thief River Falls, Minn., a medical service corps officer assigned to USARAF’s surgeon’s office.

The weeklong program, which wrapped up Dec. 5, was planned through the U.S. Embassy in Morocco and coordinated through U.S. Africa Command, USARAF’s higher headquarters.

It would have been, somehow, helpful if you added the names of the people, both civilians and the military.

It is a step forward to involve fully the Moroccan Medical corps with their American counterparts, but not only at civilian levels, as it seems and it has been, but also at Military level and within NATO forces, and counter-terrorism activities which are mushrooming on a long border which the Algerian respective governments failed to control and opted, instead, to be a nuisance and a distabilising force against Morocco, by provding military support, as well as controlling the Marxist groups under the banner of Polisario, who can no longer breathe without the Algerian nod. Unfortunately, Mauritania suffers from the lack of funds to police its borders, though they have been trying very hard to overcome their deficiency in providing security, with the help of Morocco and friends of that country.
So, American-Moroccan Friendship should be strengthened and be, as valuable to the Americans as Israel is, especially as the role of the USA is going through serious difficulties, both military and economic. The rise of China and India is a reality and China has already made a brekthrough in Africa and the trend is on the increase and not the otherway. Do not put all your eggs in one basket; America has better chance of survival with Morocco and the Arab world than the course it has taking so long when it waas the only economic power for so long. This priviledge is disappearing with the huge USA trade deficit and should revise its foreign policy accordingly, and not be prone to old lobbies, who did not serve the interest of the USA.
